Not long after Mary came out to build her Tool box Cora wandered out to the shop and wanted to build something too. Her idea was a little different though ;0). She wanted a box with a hinged lid. I always save the hinges when I take them off things…but the kids are gaining on my stash…

Her box was pretty East to throw together, I rabbeted the ends on two of the sides and we glued them nailed it together. The bottom is just glued and nailed on.

I always try to remember that kids this age aren’t worried about perfection, they just want to build. She spent the rest of the afternoon painting. while I worked on my own projects.

I think it’s impressive how crisp her edges are on the sides where she switches from color to color. I’m pretty sure she was just using a chip brush for the whole thing.

My favorite part are these cute little trees on back! This is a great size for keeping small plastic toys contained. She loves it because she was able to help build it!
