One of my favorite places to shop for tools is Tools For Working Wood. This list is always long of tools I would like to buy from them and cabinet makers rasps had been on that list for awhile. Gramercy is their brand and I really like their dovetail square and saw sharpening vice.

When it came rasps though It always seemed like the ones I wanted were always out of stock or I’d get hung up on Gramercy vs. Auriou. I had previously purchased the curved saw makers rasps in the Gramercy brand and really enjoyed using them.
After going back and forth for “forever” I ended up with was 2 Gramercy rasps and 1 Auriou rasp. It was hard to find a side by side comparison of what the Gramercy TPI looked like vs. Auriou’s grain system. In the end I guessed ;0)

Overall I have enjoyed using the Auriou rasp the most. The handle is heftier and fits better in my hand. Since it is 12” long, it is considerably wider than the Gramercy rasps. I might turn some thicker handles one day for the Gramercy rasps, for now they get picked up occasionally when there is a lot of material to remove.

Overall having a good rasp in the shop has been very handy, they are enjoyable to use. I especially like putting my work piece in the Moxen Vice work station and being able to put both hands on the rasp.
